The Federal Board of Revenue,
Government of Pakistan, has engaged Consortium of SMEC and its subsidiary
Engineering General Consultants (EGC), in association with Rehman Habib Consultants
and Al-Kasib Group of Engineering Services, to provide consultancy services on
the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Regional Improving
Border Services Project. Funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the
project will improve border infrastructure at three borders of Pakistan,
Torkham, Chaman, and Wagha, key transit points to Afghanistan and India.
Consultant scope of work includes: detailed design review of civil works; review of contractor’s work program, quality control program and environmental management plan; and contract supervision. Upon completion, this project will address users' demand for quality border crossing services, enhance knowledge and skills of border point operating agencies, and ultimately facilitating regional trade through Pakistan.
